I have gradually become accustomed to the habit of carrying a sketch book with me. Since the last time in the V&A Art Museum, I have been practicing my own sketching and color processing. In the early stage of this project, I think my progress is well reflected in sketching. However, I tried to use more colors and media when I knew that my painting style was too single. "Gates to the Circus" is the end of a stage and the beginning of a new stage. The black and white painting style in Gates to the Circus will never be wrong. It will add a dark atmosphere to the works. But when I receive a comment that "the color is too single and too depressing, and anyone can do such works", I begin to reflect. As an illustrator, it is good to have your own unique painting style, but some people may not like your painting style. I often become obsessed with the same painting style, which I think is my own painting feature. However, in fact, I locked myself in a "small house". Having my own unique painting style does not mean that you can always stay in your own comfort zone. On the contrary, I think I should try more media and painting style to enrich myself. Before becoming an excellent illustrator, I should not be limited to one style of painting, I should try more things. So I started to use color lead, create and toner. I tried to record my experience of using these media. My painting experience and style are not very mature yet. I still need to learn a lot. Learning and practice can enrich me. What I am doing now is to constantly practice and accept new things.
